New experience in Strahan on Bonnet Island!
The Bonnet Island Experience offers a rare opportunity to go ashore on a remote island at the mouth of Macquarie Harbour, home to a thriving colony of Little Penguins and Short-tailed Shearwaters. This fascinating experience highlights the native wildlife and human heritage of the West Coast. Enjoy gourmet local Tasmanian specialties; observe seabirds at dusk in their native habitat; hear tales of the historic light house, its keeper, and the harsh conditions on the island; and when darkness has fallen, cruise back to Strahan in comfort.

Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery opens new exhibition season
What links images of Icelandic ice, underwater shots whales in Tonga, panoramas of rocky coastlines in Tasmania, and abstract pictures of canyons and river-sculpted rock? One element: water. Looking at the new photographic exhibition at the Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery, that unifying theme is not obvious at first – but take time to consider this spectacular new collection, and one sees water (or signs of it) everywhere. The new exhibition, which brings together seven leading nature photographers, spreads across eight rooms at the Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery. The landscapes and waterscapes that make up the exhibition come from photographers at the peak of their careers. The new exhibition season at The Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery, Cradle Mountain Chateau, opened 2 December 2011. It showcases works by Chris Bell, Rob Blakers, Richard Bennett, Andy Chisholm, Darren Jew, Joshua Holko and Dan Gisselson. The collection will be on view until October 2012.
