Fox
Fable-like story of an unusual friendship between Dog and Magpie. Beautiful, wild and heart-strong

Fox tells the fable-like story of an unusual friendship between Dog and Magpie. Magpies wing is injured in a raging bushfire and she can no longer fly. She is rescued by Dog who is blind in one eye, and he wills Magpie to get better. He puts Magpie on his back and runs with her. Magpie tells Dog that he can be her wings and she will be his missing eye.

Fox arrives and seeing the pair cozily together, he conspires to part them. He cajoles Magpie to come with him saying he can run faster than Dog. Fox abandons her in the desert, telling her that now she and Dog will learn what it is like to be truly alone. Magpie begins the slow journey back home to her friend.

In collaboration with Director Kate Gaul and Composer Daryl Wallis, Monkey Baa has created a theatrically inventive adaptation of this timeless fable by Margaret Wild and Ron Brooks.

Fox explores the intense emotional drama of love and belonging, temptation, risk and betrayal.
