Inveresk Precinct

Developed on the location of a heritage industrial site, this remarkable new complex is a showcase of Tasmanian art and culture. Housing the city's superb collection of colonial artworks by masters such as John Glover, the centre also showcases fascinating displays of artifacts and exhibitions, including the story of rail in Tasmania and a state-of-the-art soundscape interpreting life and work in the old railyard's blacksmith's shop. In nearby Royal Park, the historic Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery has a remarkable Planetarium, an exhibition telling the stories of Chinese miners in Tasmania and Discovery Plus, interactive fun for children.
