Accommodation & Tours
These terms and conditions apply to all accommodation & tours made available by the Federal Group. By making a booking for accommodation or tour, you warrant that you have read these terms and conditions and agree to be bound by them subject to such changes as are notified to you. If the booking for accommodation &/or a tour is made through a third party, the terms and conditions of that third party also apply.
General Terms
Where indicated, minimum stay conditions apply to accommodation options. The Federal Group will endeavour to provide the accommodation and tour but reserves the right to refuse requests for bookings or actual bookings due to insufficient or excessive numbers of requests. All accommodation is subject to availability. All tours are subject to availability, minimum participation requirements & prevailing weather conditions at the time of operation. A tour may be cancelled up to the time of departure if it is the opinion of the tour operator that weather or any other conditions are such that it would be unsafe to conduct the tour. A full refund will be applicable in this event. Accommodation guests booking tours will have ticket prices charged to their room with full payment through the guaranteed credit card on departure. As Freycinet Lodge is located within a pristine National Park, entry fees do apply. Passes are available from the visitor information centre at the entrance to the park or at Freycinet Lodge reception with prices for a 24 hour vehicle pass starting at $24.00.
Booking Policy
All accommodation and tour bookings must be guaranteed at the time of reservation by provision of credit card details. Please be advised that a 1.5% non-refundable credit card surcharge is applicable to all transactions across the Federal Group. By providing credit card details you warrant that you have the authority to use the credit card and you authorise the Federal Group to charge the cost of your booking to the credit card.
You will not be charged for an accommodation booking prior to the date on which you are due to arrive and will not be charged for a tour booking until the date of the booked tour, unless previous arrangements have been made directly with the Federal Group Customer Contact Centre.
Maria Island Walk Single Traveller Policy: By booking as a single traveller on the Pure Tasmania website you are acknowledging that you are willing to share with another traveller of the same sex. If you would like to guarantee a single room at an additional cost, please call us on 1800 420 155.
Exceptions:
Freycinet Lodge - 10 days prior to the date of arrival, full prepayment of accommodation for all room nights will be charged to the credit card provided at the time of booking.
The Henry Jones Art Hotel - For reservations held 25th December to 4th January inclusive; changes can be made to reservation until 1st October, where full non refundable prepayment of accommodation is required. Failure to receive prepayment by 1st October will result in the reservation being cancelled within 25th December to 4th January inclusive. Reservations booked post 1st October will require full non refundable prepayment at time of booking, changes can not be made.
Wrest Point Hotel - Full prepayment is required by the 1st October for all reservations held from the 30th December to the 1st January inclusive. Failure to receive payment by the 1st October will result in your reservation being cancelled. Cancellations within 14 days of arrival forfeit entire amount prepaid.
Gordon River Cruise, West Coast Wilderness Railway, The Bonnet Island Experience - if these tours are booked independently from accommodation then the tour will be charged to the credit card provided at the time of booking. Peppermint Bay Cruise, Bruny Wildlife Adventure, Night with the Animals, Park Explorer Tour, Tasman Island Cruises and Bruny Island Cruises (Endorsed Experiences) will both be charged to the credit card provided at the time of booking.
In the event that the Federal Group or a third party operator cancels a tour you have booked then all monies paid for your booking will be refunded in full within 14 days of the date of cancellation.
The liability of the Federal Group arising from any cancellations of accommodation or tour bookings by the Federal Group or a third party tour operator is limited to the amount paid for the cancelled booking.
Saffire - 14 days prior to the date of arrival, full prepayment of accommodation for all room nights and travel/external service provider bookings (engaged by Saffire) will be charged to the credit card provided at the time of booking.
Cancellation Policies
Cancellation fees for accommodation are as follows for The Strahan Village, The Henry Jones Art Hotel, and Cradle Mountain Chateau:
- *72 hours or more prior to arrival: Nil
- less than 72 hours prior to arrival: contract rate for 1 night per room cancelled.
Cancellation fees for tours are as follows:
- 72 hours or more prior to scheduled tour start time: Nil
- less than 72 hours prior to scheduled tour start time: full ticket price of tour booked.
*Please note at Freycinet Lodge the cancellation policy is 7 days or more prior to arrival.
Cancellation fees for accommodation are as follows for Wrest Point, Country Club Tasmania, and Country Club Villas:
- *24 hours or more prior to arrival: Nil
- less than 24 hours prior to arrival: contract rate for 1 night per room cancelled
Cancellation fees for tours are as follows:
- 24 hours or more prior to scheduled tour start time: Nil
- less than 24 hours prior to scheduled tour start time: full ticket price of tour booked.
Cancellation fees for accommodation at Freycinet Lodge are as follows:
- 7 Days or more prior to arrival: Nil
- Any room nights and tours cancelled within 7 day period non refundable.
If a deposit has not been paid then cancellation fees will be charged to the credit card held as a guarantee. If a deposit has been paid:
• and the amount of the deposit is more than the cancellation fee then the cancellation fee will be deducted from the deposit and the balance of the deposit will be refunded;
• and the amount of the deposit is less than the cancellation fee then the deposit will be taken in part payment of the cancellation fee and the balance of the cancellation fee will be charged to the credit card held as a guarantee.
No refund will be given for any unused services or non-arrival.
Cancellations must be made by notifying the Federal Group Customer Contact Centre on 1800 420 155 between the hours of 8am and 7pm 7 days a week or by email to bookings@federalgroup.com.au
Saffire - Cancellation fees for accommodation at Saffire are as follows:
- 14 days or more prior to arrival: Nil
- 8 - 13 days prior to arrival: a charge of one night's tariff per room will be made.
- 7 days prior to arrival: a charge for every room night booked will be made, no refunds apply.
- Cancellations for Saffire are to be made by notifying Saffire at any time on 1800 SAFFIRE (1800 723 347) or by sending an email to
reservations@saffire-freycinet.com.au
- Alternatively, Saffire cancellations may be made by notifying the Federal Group Customer Contact Centre on 1800 420 155 between the hours of 8am and 7pm 7 days a week or by email to bookings@federalgroup.com.au
- A cancellation number must be obtained.
Maria Island Walk

Accommodation – Extra Guest and Child Policy
Rates are per room per night based on two person occupancy. Extra guests are charged $35.00 per person per night for "room only" rates. For rates inclusive of full breakfast, Freycinet Lodge extra guests are charged $62. The Henry Jones Art Hotel extra guests requiring additional bedding (including rollaway or cot) are charged at $55 per person per night.
Children 14 years and under at the date of arrival stay free of charge (maximum of 2 children per room) if utilising existing bedding and if accompanied by a paying adult
(at Freycinet Lodge children 4 years and under at date of arrival stay free. Children aged 5-14 yrs are charged 50% of adult price, and children aged 15+ are charged at adult prices).
Saffire - Rates are per suites per night based on two person occupancy. Maximum occupancy per suite is three people. Extra guests at Saffire are charged as follows, and with the following inclusions:
EXTRA PERSON - CHILD (under 18yrs) rate is $300 extra per night for the rate including dinner (and bedding, breakfast, lunch, and age-appropriate beverages and activities) OR $200 extra per night (including bedding, breakfast, lunch, and age-appropriate beverages and activities, but excluding dinner)
EXTRA PERSON - ADULT rate is $450 extra per night (including dinner and dinner beverages, bedding, breakfast, lunch, and some beverages and activities) OR $300 extra per night (including bedding, breakfast, lunch, some beverages and activities, but excluding dinner).
Children 0-4 years at the date of arrival attract no charge. Guests 5 years and above at the date of arrival attract the additional person charge detailed above.
Exceptions:
One cot per room is available free of charge at all properties, except at The Henry Jones Art Hotel (cot or rollaway charge is $55 per night, as per above).
At Freycinet Lodge from 1/10/2010, children 4 years and under at date of arrival stay free of charge. Children aged 5 - 14 yrs are charged 50% of adult price, and children aged 15+ are charged at adult prices.
Tour Child Policy
Children 3-14 years are entitled to Child fares on Gordon River Cruises (GRC) and West Coast Wilderness Railway (WCWR). Children 2 years and under are classified as infants and travel free (maximum of 1 infant per paying adult). Infants are not guaranteed a seat. Child fares are not available on GRC Captains Premier Upper Deck and WCWR Premier Carriage; however children (including infants) may travel on an adult fare.
Further terms and conditions as stated at ticket collection will also apply.
Exceptions:
Freycinet Lodge: Child fares are not available; however children may travel on an adult fare.

The Federal Group, through Pure Tasmania, is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information that you provide.
Your personal information is primarily used for the purpose of registering your stay with us, booking an experience or responding to your request. If you do not provide us with this information, you will not be able to access the requested service. We will only disclose your personal information if it is necessary for the purpose of providing the products or services you request or complying with our legal obligations.
We will give you the opportunity to access the personal information we may hold about you and, where necessary, correct any errors in this information (some restrictions and cost may apply).
